TMDisplay (Toshiba) is trendsetter in LED backlight technology !
LED-Backlight State-of-the-Art up to size 12.1“
The rapid movement to LED backlights now also affects more and more the classical display industry. TMDisplay, one of the most powerful Notebook- and Mobile display manufacturers with LED backlights, wants to satisfy these market requirements with a consequently modernized industrial line-up.
This new product family will firstly include the following sizes:
5.7'' VGA (LT057AC47100)
6.5'' VGA (LT065AC57200)
8.4'' SVGA (LTA084C271F)
8.4" SVGA with Touch (LT084AC27500)
8.4'' XGA (LT084AC37000)
8.4" XGA with Touch (LT084AC37100)
10.4'' SVGA (LT104AD18900)
10.4'' XGA (LT104AC36100)
10.4" XGA with Touch (LT104AC36000)
12.1'' SVGA (LT121AC33W00)*
*ext. LED lifetime 100 k hrs.
Further 100 k hrs version [LT057AC47200, LT084AC27E00,
LT084AC37300, LT104AD18E00, LT104AC36300] and new formats are in preparation.
„Mounting hole“ and „Center of Screen“ compatibility to the existing CCFL line will be guaranteed. Retooling costs for new designs can be omitted. TMD wants to enable the costumers a smooth migration from CCFL to LED backlight technology in that way. Due to the already ex factory integrated LED driver an external constant current source is needless. The connection is done by the popular pin out of Molex connector series 53261-0671.
The lifetime of the LED backlight is specified with typically 70.000 hrs MTBF and is replaceable. This makes sense compared with a CCFL panel because the emitted light of the LED does include neither UV nor infrared rates. Moreover, the exchangeability will contribute to cost cutting because LEDs currently have a much higher share in the cost structure of a backlight compared with CCFL. This offers optimizing potential during the life cycle of the panel backlight, without having profound effects on the mechanical design. A simplified drive and automated panel configuration is given with the integrated EDID-EEPROM.
All displays are optional available with laminated touch ex factory (4-wire resistive type). The integration of other touch technologies is possible. Robustness against shock & vibration is given due to the polysilicon technology.
In the medium term, all Factory Automation displays will be shifted to these new technologies.
